With the delivery of approval certificates to 130 residents from the influence areas of the Mesamávida wind farm in Los Ángeles and Los Olmos in Mulchén, the various training courses offered by AES Chile, through its Foundation, concluded during January and February.

The courses, implemented by the professional institute AIEP, addressed topics such as digital literacy; beekeeping; project formulation for entrepreneurship funding applications; urban gardening; and first aid.

To conclude this version of the training program, the certification ceremony for the 69 participants from the Mesamávida Wind Farm influence area was held on March 4, while two days later the certification event took place for the 61 residents of the Los Olmos Wind Farm.

The female participation rate for the courses - conducted with residents from both wind farms - reached 84%.

Nancy Álvarez, a resident of the San Francisco Cuel locality in Los Ángeles, highlighted that "it was very important and rewarding to continue learning, as it is very useful for my ornamental plants and flowers business. The experience was very good. I am grateful for the opportunity provided by the AES park and the neighborhood association. I believe that these courses should continue to be offered".

One of the courses that generated significant interest from the communities of both wind farms was urban gardening, which trained participants in developing knowledge and skills to plan, establish, and manage urban gardens sustainably, promoting the production of healthy foods, environmental conservation, and community well-being.

Rubén Barahona, Head of Operation and Maintenance of the Mesamávida and Los Olmos Wind Farms, valued the results of the 15 courses developed in a record time of two months. "Many participants and residents took three to four courses. What I could appreciate the most is that older people took the digital literacy course as a training alternative. There one realizes that age has no limitations to continue preparing and studying".

Barahona added that "the result aligns with what the company is asking us to develop with the communities in the field of social investment. Here, the AES Chile Foundation plays a fundamental role, as it has managed to reach the communities by providing them with solutions, tools, and training. They aim to address their needs and concerns".

Through its Social Investment strategy, AES Chile Foundation articulates and collaboratively implements initiatives that contribute to the social development of communities in the areas where AES Chile projects and operations are located.
