Training and education are essential tools for improving the quality of life for individuals. For this reason, AES Chile developed various courses during January and February so that residents of the San Matías wind farm could access them.

One of the initiatives that generated the most interest was the Project Formulation for Entrepreneurship Funds course, aimed at equipping residents to effectively present projects that meet the requirements and criteria necessary when applying for entrepreneurship funds offered by various institutions and organizations.

We spoke with one of the students, who shared insights about her entrepreneurship and the lessons learned from the course. Marlys Jara Ávila is a veterinarian by profession and runs a veterinary center where she treats small and large animals, serving the rural area of Sol de Rarinco.

"We started with something very small and gradually we have been able to develop more areas, including hiring new professionals to provide a more comprehensive service, which includes treatments, surgeries, blood tests, and laboratory procedures," she commented.

"The most relevant aspect for an entrepreneur is to have ongoing challenges. In the short term, I would like to continue expanding complementary tests, have an imaging team, and in the longer term, increase the number of people working, in order to create new job positions," she said.

Marlys added, "Participating in the course was a success, as I learned a lot. Trainings, whether simple or complex, are always a learning experience and contribute to what one is doing."

"This training helped me in an area where I had a lot of unknowns, which is how to apply for various funds that could help grow my entrepreneurship."

"I learned the stages and everything that needs to be done to participate. Now I hope that there will be a fund soon that I can apply for and be awarded," she said.

"For me, every time there are workshops or courses, it's an interesting invitation and I hope everyone can participate. They are always helpful, a contribution. I hope they expand and there are many more throughout the year."

Meanwhile, Benjamin Rengifo, Head of Territorial Management and Communities for the Southern Zone of AES Chile, stated that for AES Chile, it is essential to contribute from the perspective of local development.

"One of our investment pillars is the promotion of entrepreneurship, as it has been shown to be one of the best tools for social mobility and for personal and community development. This training was very special because 100% of the participants were women and they lead in local development in the area," he added.
