AES Chile hosts Open House program with residents of Los Angeles and Laja

  • AES Chile launched its Open House program on June 22-29. The program was developed with the participation of social organizations, neighborhood associations and committees from the Los Angeles and Laja communes.

  • Open House brings the work of AES Chile closer to the residents of areas under construction or in operation so residents can better understand the electricity generation projects.

  • The program took place at Mesamávida Wind Farm, where neighbors and organizations from the Rinconada Wind Project met with AES Chile's Community Relations and Engineering teams. During the program, residents were able to learn about the process of building a wind turbine so they could better understand the construction process and see the operation of the equipment that is similar to what will be installed in Rinconada.

Rosa Muñoz, the president of the "Old Youth Club of Yesterday" in Puente Perales de Laja, said that the visit was an excellent opportunity to clarify the concerns. She said, "We saw the construction of the plant and it was a very good thing for us because we can explain the real situation: it is clean energy and that it does no harm."

Paula Larrea, the Community Relations lead for projects in the south of Chile, said, "We value bringing neighbors closer to what we do so they can see the construction first hand and fully understand the process."

The 258 MW Rinconada wind project is part of the Greentegra transformational strategy, which AES Chile launched in May 2018 and, along with accelerating the future of energy, seeks to contribute to mitigating the effects of climate change through the development of renewable solutions.
